Iran’s Sarmayeh reaches final at AVC Championship

TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (MNA) – The athletes of Iran’s Sarmayeh Bank Volleyball Club lined up against Shanghai Golden Age players and defeating the Chinese reached the final event of AVC Club Volleyball Championship in Myanmar.

Mostafa Karkhaneh’s players registered a straight-set win (28-26, 25-16 and 25-21) over Shanghai Golden Age of China at the end of a semifinal encounter in Myanmar’s capital city of Naypyidaw on Tuesday and reached the final event of the 2016 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Club Volleyball Championship.

Sarmayeh Bank, who had claimed the title of the Iran’s professional league of volleyball, stood against Shanghai Golden Age, who had claimed their 12th China men's volleyball league title after defeating rivals Beijing Auto in straight sets on February 27, 2016.

The Iranian squad reached the semi-final of the tournament after defeating Maseco TP HCM of Vietnam (25-18, 25-16 and 25-18) on Monday while their rivals, China’s Shanghai Golden Age defeated Altay VC of Kazakhstan.

The other finalist of the tournament will be the winner of the fight between Toyoda Gosei Trefuerza of Japan and Al-Arabi Sports Club of Qatar.
